Black Honey – ‘Spinning Wheel’
Black Honey’s latest cacophony channels the Pulp Fiction soundtrack (particularly, Dick Dale & the Del-Tones’s surf hallmark ‘Misirlou’) for a riveting buzz-saw ballad that takes no prisoners. Amidst a fever of yelps and menacing guitar riffs, Izzy Baxter’s modulated vocals whisper “Television, won’t you say my name?”, and in these three-and-a-half minutes the Brighton band sound like the 1950s West Coast on the most bloodthirsty of surfboard vendettas.
