…Insanity! Opening like an angry ‘How Soon Is Now?’, Tom Vek’s remix of the new Foals single ‘Inhaler’ soon takes on the form of a kind of industrial, electronic indie-goth behemoth. Literally, it’s Depeche Mode covering ‘Blue Monday’ with Foals singing over the top. It’s absolute nonsense, of course, and by half way through it is verging on the edge of the ‘Get Your Own Back!’ theme tune (a truly bodacious move…). Quality production makes sure that Vek’s re-work is as ridiculous as Foals’ own re-emergence as the Deftones, and just as enjoyable, even if it is a throwback to the days of Klaxons super-stardom, Kitsune electro compilations, and fluorescent everything. Daft, silly, absurd, but you’ve got to give him his dues, this is piles of fun.
