‘Crystal Aquarium’ looks to be a fitting title for the forthcoming E.P. from Miami-based producer Jonathan Abramson, a.k.a. Between You and Me. This teaser track, ‘Jellies’ can be summed up by the airy tremolo synths and foggy, ambient headspace that mark its opening, before industrial cataclysms of bass kick and snare transform the song into a kind of spaced-out juggernaut. There’s laser beams and UFO swoops around every corner, creating an atmosphere akin to some kind of euphoric alien abduction, while a repeating sub-bass driver pins all the elements back against the drums.
It all ends as it started – each piece floating off into a distant corner of the universe. And far too soon as well. An awesome infusion of classic industrial beats with a modern sound palette, transformed into something a whole lot more trippy and compelling.
