F.U.R.S have done well in staying on the right side of the fine line between making a song overly twee by over-use of xylophone / hiding it well enough for it to subtly inject an extra level of happiness, but to be honest, the song is so good that getting it wrong would hardly have caused much damage anyway. Brilliantly balanced production brings out the most prominent charms of the track – sliding guitar licks and a fantastically catchy vocal melody, with some shy “La’s” here and there to elevate a blissful chorus. “Modern Lovers” is the kind of song that makes summer great.
